After a couple quiet days in the Kootenay region, Gordon Campbell did one last rally for his Columbia-River Revelstoke candidate Mark McKee. When Gordon Campbell's tour bus pulled into Revelstoke, he was greeted by about 70 supporters...and one lone protester across the street with a sign as big as him that read, "Are you sober Campbell?" The protester bounced up and down outside the windows of the rally, prompting some supporters inside to wave their campaign signs vigorously back at him. The security detail kept a close eye on him. When Campbell decided to run across the street to talk to some visitors, the sign man followed him, asking, Campbell, "Are you sober?" Campbell barely gave him a glance, and said back, "Yes, I am, thanks for asking." The protester, Andy Parkin, when asked if he was voting for the NDP, paused, and said, "Well, is there any other choice?" We later learned he was not just an NDP supporter, but the VP of the local NDP club. Norm MacDonald, the NDP incumbent in the area, said he had met Andy Parkin at some BBQs at his house and he was a supporter, but responsible for his own actions. Campbell drove into more friendly territory in the Schuswap starting with a rally in Health Minister George Abbott's riding. About a 100 supporters, but BC Paramedics decided to use the photo op as a chance to urge Campbell to appoint a mediator. They've been without a contract since April 1st. Campbell told them he couldn't do much for them during the election, but that didn't stop the paramedics from hanging out to make their point.
